Using CursorFX to change your Windows cursors and pointers - Tutorial 1 - Installation

Not content with the standard Windows cursors and mouse pointers? CursorFX can help. Now you can change your standard Windows pointers and cursors into all singing, all dancing, fully animated super cursors that you can customize to your hearts content.

Like most Stardock software, installing the software is really easy. Firstly, visit the download page for CursorFX, or go straight for the super duper CursorFX Plus (the additional features of the Plus version are explained on the download page). Save the file to your desktop or somewhere where you can easily access it. Once the download is complete, double click the file to start the installation process. You may need to enter your administrators password and/or click "continue" if prompted to do so by Windows User Account Control. You should then see the window shown below:-

Install CursorFX - Step 1

Scroll down to read the licence agreement and if you agree, tick the box labelled "I accept the terms of the license agreement" then click "Next >". You will be taken to the window shown below:-

Install CursorFX - Step 2

Here you can choose where to install CursorFX. The default location is correct for most users, so simply click on "Next >". You will then see the window shown below:-

Install CursorFX - Step 3

Here you can choose where to place the short-cuts for the program. Again, the default location should be fine for everyone.

You can also choose who has access to the software. Choosing "Anyone who uses this computer" means that you and any other users who share this computer will be able to change cursors and pointers with CursorFX. Selecting "Only for me" will mean that you can only access the software when using the account you are currently logged in with.

When you have decided on these options, click on "Next >". You will then be taken to the window shown below:-

Install CursorFX - Step 4

There will be a short pause while several files are copied. Once the copy is complete, you will see the following window:-

Install CursorFX - Step 5

The software is now fully installed and you can start customizing and tweaking your Windows cursors and mouse pointers.
