Secure your PC and internet connection from hackers and malware with the Outpost firewall – Tutorial 2 – Configuring Outpost for the first time
In this tutorial we will take you through initial configuration of Outpost firewall. Once this procedure is complete, Outpost is fully configured and will start protecting your system immediately. When rebooting your system for the first time after installing Outpost, you should see the following window:-
Click on “Next >” to move on to the window shown below:-
On this window, you have the option of installing the “Quick Tune” plugin for Internet Explorer (this plugin does not work with Firefox or Opera). We recommend enabling this plug-in, even if you don't use Internet Explorer very often, installing it will not cause any adverse effects to your system.Once you have made your decision, click “Next >” to move to the next window shown below:-
On this window, you need to decide if you want to enable real-time spyware protection. Remember that real-time virus and spyware scanners will inevitably slow your computer down a fraction. If you already have a real-time spyware scanner such as Spybot, we recommend against enabling the real-time spyware protection in Outpost. Otherwise, the choice is yours and you can always change this option later. Regardless of the option you choose, make sure “Run system scan after completing the wizard” is selected, then click on “Finish”.
Installation is now complete, Outpost will now scan your system for spyware. When the scan is complete, you should see a window like the one below:-
This window lists the spyware objects found (if any). Click on “Select All” and then “Clear All” to remove any entries that the scanner finds, then click on “Next >” to move to the window shown below:-
A brief summary of the scanning is shown. Click on “Finish” to close this window. Outpost firewall is now fully configured to protect your system.
