Once you have downloaded the file, open it by double clicking on it or selecting "open" from within your web browsers download manager. Windows Vista users should enter their administrators password if prompted to do so by User Account Control. You should then see the following window:-

Click "Next >". The following window will then be displayed:-

Scroll down to read the license agreement and if you agree to the terms and conditions, select "I accept the agreement", then click "Next >". The following window will then appear:-

Here you can choose whereabouts on your computer you want to install the software. The default location is fine for most users, so simply click on "Next >" to move to the window shown below:-

Now you can choose to optionally create desktop and quick launch shortcuts for the program. Create these if you prefer, but make sure "Automatically install updates" is ticked, before clicking "Next >" to move to the window shown below:-

The installer now gives you the option of installing a free Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer. The Google Toolbar can be quite useful, but if you already have a toolbar installed, or you don't use Internet Explorer, you may wish to opt out of this by selecting "Don't install the Google Toolbar". When you have made your decision, click on "Next >" to move to the window shown below:-

There will be a short pause while files are copied. When the copy process is complete, the following window will appear:-

The installer now takes care of updating the spyware signature database to the latest version, so that the software knows about all the latest threats. When this process is complete, the following window will appear:-

The installation process is now complete. The software will now start, you will see the following window appear:-

The program will now check for updates, but it is likely that the installer has already downloaded them all. Click on "Next >". You should then see the following window:-
