Outsmart Windows spyware with Ad-Aware and our easy to follow tutorials! Tutorial 1 - Installation

Ready to use Ad-Aware to remove Windows spyware from your PC? Excellent. If you have already installed the program, click here to jump straight to tutorial two. If not, then first you need to download the latest version from Lavasoft, click here to visit the Ad-Aware download page. The download should then start automatically.

When the download is complete, double click on the file you downloaded to start the installation process.

(Note:- Windows Vista users only - After clicking the file to begin installation, enter your administrator user name and password and/or click continue if prompted to do so by Windows User Account Controls).

The following window will then appear:-

Choose your preferred language and then click "OK". The following window will then appear:-

Press "Next >" to be taken to the following window:-

Scroll down to read the license agreement and when you are happy, tick or check the box that is labelled "I accept the terms of the license agreement" then press "Next >" to move on to the next window:-

We're now given the option of installing Google Chrome. Google Chrome is a new web browser (like Firefox and Internet Explorer) from Google. If you want to try it, click on "Install Ad-Aware and Google Chrome". In this tutorial we are installing Ad-Aware on its own, so click on "Install Ad-Aware only". The following window will then appear:-

Press "Install" to be taken to the following window:-

There is a short pause while files are copied across, when everything is done, the following window is displayed:-

You'll be prompted to restart your computer now. Click on "Finish" to restart your computer. You can also optionally sign up for the Ad-Aware newsletter by entering your e-mail address into the bottom of this window. Once you click "Finish", the following window will be displayed:-

Before your computer restarts, the installer will run the Update Manager to check for any last minute program updates. Once this process has completed your PC will restart. The next time Windows boots up, Ad-Aware will start automatically. You should now view tutorial two to learn how to scan for spyware.
