If you find the text difficult to read on your Windows Vista PC, it is possible to make it bigger to aid visibility. To do this, first right click on the desktop and choose "Personalize":-

Changing font size in Windows Vista - Step 1

The Personalization section of the Control Panel will now open, as shown below:-

Changing font size in Windows Vista - Step 2

Click on "Adjust font size (DPI)" from the menu on the left. You will need to enter your administrator password and/or click on "Continue" if user account control prompts you to do so. The following window will then appear:-

Changing font size in Windows Vista - Step 3

You can now choose from two different sizes, Default scale or Larger scale. You can also click on "Custom DPI..." at the bottom of the window to choose a custom size. Click on a new size and then click on "Apply". Your font sizes will now be changed.

If you want even finer control over your fonts and font sizes, see our adding and changing fonts in Windows Vista tutorial.

Changing font size improves readability without sacrificing as much screen space as changing the screen resolution, so give it a go.
