Get complete protection for your Windows PC with ESET Smart Security - Incorporating NOD32 Antivirus and ESET Personal Firewall. Tutorial 1 - Installation

ESET, the makers of the famous NOD32 antivirus suite now also produce ESET Smart Security (ESS), which includes a firewall and an antivirus in one convenient package. Installing ESS is exactly the same as installing NOD32 antivirus. Refer to our NOD32 V3 Installation Tutorial for more information, then come back here when you are done.

Additional steps for ESET Personal Firewall

Once you have finished the installation of ESS, you will see a window like the one shown below:-

ESET Smart Security New network detected

ESET firewall has detected your network and is asking you what to do next. This depends on your location and your internet connection.

If you are using a public Wi-Fi connection, or an internet connection with only one computer that plugs directly into your cable or ADSL modem, you should choose "Strict Protection". You don't want people on the internet, or on an untrusted network getting access to your files and printer.

If you are sharing your files, folders or printers on a home or office network, you must choose "Allow sharing". If you do not, you will be unable to access any shared resources on your network.

If you make the wrong choice, or if you change your network configuration, don't worry, you can always change your mind later in the setup section.
