Protect yourself from computer viruses by using the free AVG Antivirus from Grisoft – Tutorial 1 – Installing AVG

If you are looking for good protection from computer viruses, the free AVG antivirus package is a great solution for anyone on a tight budget. Even though AVG is completely free, it frequently out-ranks many of the markets leading paid-for Windows antivirus solutions both in detecting and removing viruses and in scanning speed! In this tutorial, we will show you how to install AVG on your computer. Before you get started, you may wish to check the Grisoft frequently asked questions on computer viruses and AVG.

OK, let's get started. Download the latest version of free AVG antivirus from Grisoft here. Save the file to your desktop, or somewhere where you can access it easily, then double click it to start the installation process. The first window should appear as shown below:-

Press “Next >” on the window above to proceed to the next window as shown below:-

Scroll down to read the licence agreement and if you agree with it, click on “Next >” to proceed to the next window shown below:-

There will be a short pause while AVG checks some system files, when this process has finished, you will see the window below:-

Make sure that “Standard Installation (recommended)” is selected, then click on “Next >” to move to the next window as shown below:-

In this window, enter your name and optionally a company name. The Licence/Sales number box should be filled out for you automatically, do not change what is in this box. When you are done, click on “Next >” to move to the next window as shown below:-

Step 6

If you wish, you can review your installation settings here. When you are happy, press next to move on to the next window.

Step 7

There will be a short pause while some files are copied over. When copying is complete, the window below will be shown:-

Step 8

Congratulations! free AVG antivirus is now installed and ready to protect you against computer viruses. As soon as you click on “OK” AVG will launch and start the First Run Wizard.
