Backup your Windows PC and protect your valuable data using Genie Backup Manager. Supplemental tutorial - Improving the scheduler (Windows Vista and Windows 7 only)

If you are a Windows Vista or Windows 7 user you can improve the scheduled backups in Genie Backup Manager by following this handy tutorial. After completing this tutorial, any backups you have scheduled that don't run (e.g. because your computer is turned off) will now run as soon as possible (e.g. the next time you turn your computer on). This technique only works in Windows Vista or later.

Firstly, open the start menu and in the search bar, enter "Task Scheduler". There should only be one result. Now, right click on the icon and choose "Run as administrator".

Enter your administrators user name and password and/or click continue when user account control prompts you to do so. You'll now see the Task Scheduler window:-

Click on "Task Scheduler Library" from the options on the left. Now, the window in the middle should have at least one entry for "GBM" (which stands for Genie Backup Manager). Select this item by clicking on it once, then right click and choose "Properties". In the picture above you can see an example of a GBM task in the list. Once you click properties, the following window will appear:-

The job properties window now appears. Make sure the "General" tab is selected. Now, at the bottom of the window, click on the drop-down box next to "Configure for:" and change it to "Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008". Once you have done this, click on the "Settings" tab. The window should change to look like the picture shown below:-

Now, make sure the box labelled "Run this task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed" has a tick mark in it. The box is circled in red in the picture above. Once you have done this, click on "OK". You can now close the task scheduler window (by clicking the red cross in the top right corner).
