Add Google's powerful gadgets and search functionality to your Windows PC with Google Desktop - Tutorial 1 - Install Google Desktop

In this short tutorial, we will show you how to install Google Desktop. The installation process is really easy. To get started, obtain the latest version of the software from the Google Desktop homepage. Download and open the file to start the installation process. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will need to enter their administrator password and/or click "Yes" if prompted, to grant permission to install the software.

The following window will then appear:-

Wait a moment while the installer prepares the installation files. When this process is complete, the following window will appear:-

Scroll down to read the terms of service and if the terms are acceptable, cick on "I agree". The following window will then appear:-

There are several options we can configure here. For the purpose of this tutorial we recommend you leave the default options selected and click on "Done". In tutorial 3 we will enter the Google Desktop configuration pages and explain most of these options in more detail.

Once you click on "Done" the following window will appear:-

The installation is now complete and you can proceed to the next tutorial immediately.
