Customize your desktop and get easy access to hundreds of fun and useful desktop enhancements with Yahoo Widgets - Tutorial 1 - Install Yahoo WidgetsIn this tutorial we will show you how to install Yahoo Widgets on your Windows PC. Internet Explorer users can automatically install Yahoo Widgets (and additional widgets) by using the "Yahoo Installer Plugin for Widgets". If you don't have this plugin, you will be able to install it the first time you download Yahoo Widgets using Internet Explorer. If you don't use Internet Explorer or you want to manually install the software to avoid using the ActiveX plugin, visit this page and use the manual download link (below the large "Get Started Now" button). This will start downloading the Yahoo Widgets program to your computer. Save the file to your desktop or somewhere were you can easily access it. When the download is complete, double click on the file or choose "Open" in your browsers download manager to start installation. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will need to enter their administrator passwords and/or click "Continue" if prompted to do so by User Account Control. The following window will then appear:-
Click "Next >". The following window will then appear:-
Here you can choose a directory to install Yahoo Widgets to. The default directory is fine for most users, so simply click on "Next >". The following window will then appear:-
If you do not want to switch your search engine or home page over to Yahoo, make sure to deselect the two tick/check boxes at the bottom of this window before clicking on "Install". The following window will then appear:-
Wait a moment while files are copied and configured. When the process is complete, the following window will appear:-
The installation process is now complete, make sure "Launch Yahoo! Widgets" is selected, then click on "Close". The following window will then be displayed:-
Scroll down to read the licence agreement and if you accept, click on "I Accept". Why does the licence agreement say "Konfabulator Consumer License Agreement"? This is because Yahoo Widgets was known as Konfabulator before Yahoo bought it. Once you click on "I Accept", Yahoo Widgets will start. You can now proceed directly to our next tutorial for a tour of the Yahoo Widget basics.
