How to perform a manual installation of Adobe Flash Player using Internet Explorer (without using the Adobe DLM)

Note - Adobe Flash Player Plugin installation should now be completely automatic on all current versions of Internet Explorer. However, many users have had difficulty with Adobe's new Download Manager (DLM) extension. This tutorial will show you how to bypass the Adobe Download Manager and manually install Flash Player.

To start the manual installation, click this link. This will bypass Adobe's download manager and simply download the latest version of Flash Player for Internet Explorer. We have found this method to be the most reliable as Adobe's download manager frequently fails to install Flash correctly. Once you click the link, the following window will appear if you are using Internet Explorer 8:-

While Internet Explorer 9 users will see the following strip appear at the bottom of their browser:-

In either case, choose "Run". Internet Explorer will now download the file. Once the download is complete, the installation process will start automatically. You will need to enter your administrator password and/or click "Yes" if Windows User Account Control prompts you to do so. The following window will then appear:-

Tick/check the box that is labelled "I have read and agree to the terms of the Flash Player License Agreement" and click on "Install". There will be a short pause while files are copied and configured. When the process is complete, the following window will be displayed:-

Click on "DONE" and the installer will close. Congratulations, you have successfully installed Flash and you are ready to take advantage of the wide range of Flash content on Top-Windows-Tutorials.com and the rest of the web.
