Keep in touch with all your friends and family using Pidgin, the free multi-protocol instant messaging program. Tutorial 4 - Managing contacts

In this video, we'll show you how to manage instant messaging contacts, or buddies, with Pidgin. Since the software supports a wide range of Instant Messaging protocols, you can add all your friends and contacts regardless of which IM program they choose to use.

Note - If you already use other instant messaging programs, your existing contacts/buddies will usually be added automatically, as soon as you add your existing accounts to Pidgin. See tutorial 3 for details on how to add IM accounts to Pidgin.

Additional notes

If you are very sociable and have lots of buddies, you can use groups to keep them organised. Just choose "add group" from the Buddies menu. You can then drag and drop buddies into different groups. If you can't see the group you just created, open the Buddies menu and choose 'Show->Empty Groups'.
