DirectX is used by most multimedia and game software, but it is not updated by Windows Update. Follow this easy tutorial if you want to update DirectX on your Windows PCAlthough most Windows components update themselves automatically, for some reason to update DirectX you must download and run an updating utility by hand. DirectX is an important part of Windows if you use multimedia or game software. Updating DirectX can improve gaming performance and stability, though most users don't even realise that it can be updated. The easiest way to update DirectX to the latest version is to use Microsofts own "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer". This is updated frequently, so to find the latest version, open your favourite search engine and search for "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer". Click on the first result that is from www.microsoft.com. This utility is updated regularly so we can't post you a direct link. You may need to validate your copy of Windows through the Windows Genuine Advantage program before you can download the updater utility. The file you should download will be called "dxwebsetup.exe". Once you have downloaded it, click open, or double click on the file to start the installation process. You should see the window shown below:-
Make sure you choose "I accept the agreement", then click "Next >" to move to the window shown below:-
There will be a short pause while various files are updated. When this is done, you should see the following window:-
Wait for the necessary components to download. When the process is complete, you should see the following window:-
Click on "Finish". DirectX is now fully updated on your system and you can experience your entertainment software running more reliably than ever before.
