Time to zap Windows spyware with Ad-Aware - Tutorial 2 - Updating and scanningIn this video tutorial, we show you how to update Ad-Aware to the latest Windows spyware definitions file and then how to run a spyware scan. In the video, we are running Ad-Aware for the very first time after installing it. To start the program normally, simply click on the desktop shortcut or launch it from the Start Menu. When scanning your computer with Ad-Aware or any other anti-spyware package, you should always check for updates before running the scan, to make sure that the software knows about the latest spyware threats.
Please allow for a short delay while the video loads. When loading is complete, press the play button to start the video.
Additional Notes What is a definition file? You can think of an Ad-Aware definition file as being like a fingerprint database of spyware and other malicious or potentially dangerous programs. The more out of date your definitions file is, the more likely it is that the software will miss some newer spyware simply because it does not know about it. If you purchase a licence for Ad-Aware Professional, you can benefit from automatic updates and an improved Ad-Watch module.
