Bitdefender Free Antivirus – Tutorial 1 – Installation

In this tutorial we will look at how to download and install Bitdefender free antivirus. Installing the software is really easy, but just in case you need any extra help, follow this simple step by step tutorial. To get started, download the latest version of the software from the Bitdefender download page here. Once you have downloaded the Bitdefender installer, double click on the executable file or choose Open or Run in your browsers download manager to start the installation process. You will need to be connected to the internet during the installation and you must also enter your administrator password and/or click “Yes” when Windows User Account Control prompts you to do so.

The following window will then appear.

Wait while the installer downloads Bitdefender. Once this process is complete, the following window will appear.

Before you click on “Install”, decide if you want to send automatic anonymous usage reports back to Bitdefender while you use the software. Usually there is no risk in doing this, but these reports could contain samples of malware which, theoretically at least, could contain snippets of personal information, so the choice is yours. Deselect the tick/check box at the bottom if you’re worried, then click “Install”. The window shown below will then appear.

Bitdefender will scan your computer at this stage, then install the antivirus software. Simply wait while this process takes place. Once this stage has completed, the following window will appear.

To use Bitdefender free, you need a Bitdefender account. Click on “Sign in to Bitdefender”. The window shown below will then appear.

If you have an account already, click on the blue “sign in” link at the bottom left of the window. Otherwise, enter your details and a valid e-mail address to create a new account. Once you’ve completed this step, Bitdefender is installed and you can move directly to the next tutorial.
