BleachBit Tutorial 1 – Installation
In this short tutorial, we will take a look at how to install BleachBit on your Windows PC. BleachBit serves two purposes. Firstly, it helps clean temporary files from your computer and regain hard drive space. Secondly, it acts as a file shredder, securely erasing potentially private data like web surfing history, chat logs and other sensitive data.
Installing the program is really easy. Firstly, obtain the latest version of the software from the BleachBit homepage here. Once the file has downloaded, double click on it or choose “Run” or “Open” from your browsers download manager to start the installation process. You will need to enter your administrator password and/or click on “Yes” when User Account Control prompts you.
The following window will then appear:-
Select a language to use during installation. English is selected by default, so click on “OK”. The following window will then be displayed:-
Scroll down to read the license agreement and if you agree, click on “I Agree” to proceed with the installation. The following window will then appear:-
On this window you can configure some advanced options for the installation. The default options will work fine for most users, so simply click on “Next >”. The following window will then appear:-
On this window you can choose where to install the program file. The default location is fine for most users, so simply click on “Install”. There will be a short delay now while files are copied and configured. When the process is complete, the following window will be displayed:-
Click on “Next >”. The following window will then appear:-
Click on “Finish”. BleachBit will now start automatically and you can proceed directly to the next tutorial.
