Use the CD Writing Wizard in Windows XP to back up your important files and folders

For smaller backup jobs, or if you simply need to transport your data, the CD Writing Wizard in Windows XP can make copies of data on your PC easily and cost effectively. In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to add files and folders to a CD image and then write them to a CD.

Additional notes

When burning CD’s with Windows XP, Windows writes the CD’s in ‘multi-session’ mode. This means that if you don’t fill your CD the first time you write it, you can add more files to it later. However, you cannot delete individual files from a CD compilation, even if you are using a rewritable CD. If you want to delete files from a rewritable CD you must erase the whole disk.

Are you unable to complete this tutorial? If you are unable to complete this tutorial, either because you cannot send files to your CD-R drive, or because Windows does not recognise when you insert a blank disk into your drive, you may have an incompatible drive. If this is the case you must use the software that came with your drive in order to record files to CD-R or DVD-R disks.
