How to reinstall Windows XP – Part 1

XP Compatibile tutorial

In this video we demonstrate how to reinstall Windows XP. We’ll be doing a complete reinstallation of Windows XP by first removing the old operating system. Because this process is lengthy, we have split the procedure into two videos. In this first part we show you how to format your hard drive and completely remove the old operating system. These videos also show how to install Windows XP from scratch, the procedure is exactly the same as performing a full reinstallation.

Please exercise caution when following this tutorial!

Remember that ALL data on your computer will be removed as a result of following this tutorial. Your computer will be reset completely and will be the same or similar to when you first purchased it. You must make sure to backup any data on the computer that you want to keep. We also recommend that you read our guide to reinstalling Windows before you begin. You may also wish to try a repair installation first before committing to a full reinstallation. Alternatively, you may wish to try the Reimage service instead.

Additional notes

Your computer will restart several times during this installation process, do not remove the Windows XP CD during the installation. You should also ignore any subsequent “Press any key to boot from CD” messages. You only need to start from the CD once, after that you must load/boot from your hard drive.
