Dropbox Tutorial 1 – Installing Dropbox
You can easily send, receive and share large files and folders across the internet using Dropbox. Dropbox is a fantastic service that lets you store, share and manage large files on the internet. The service works either through the web or on your desktop. Using the desktop version, you can use your Dropbox account just like a regular folder on your desktop. This method is faster and more convenient than using the web interface and we recommend you install it if possible.
To get started with Dropbox, first create an account here. Then, download the latest version of the program from the link here. When the download is complete, double click on the file or choose “Open” or “Run” from your browsers download manager. Enter your administrator password and/or click on “Yes” if prompted to do so by Windows User Account Control.
In the new version of Dropbox, installation is almost completely automatic. Simply wait for the installer to download and configure the appropriate files. When the process is complete, the following window will appear.
Enter the e-mail address and password you used when you signed up to the service. If you enter the credentials correctly, the following window will then appear.
The installation is now complete. You can now close this window and proceed directly to our next tutorial. You may see the following window appear if this is the first time you have installed Dropbox for your PC.
Click on “Get started” and then simply click through the short tutorial. Don’t worry if you don’t understand it yet, we will be covering all the major points in our following tutorials.
