iVPN Tutorial 1 – Installing iVPN

Protect your online privacy with the iVPN service. In this tutorial, we’re going to get you started with iVPN. Not sure what a VPN is or why you might need one? Then see this page. To sign up with an iVPN account, you should visit this page. Once you have signed up, you will be e-mailed instructions on how to activate your account. If you’re a little confused by terms like OpenVPN, PPTP or L2TP then fear not. iVPN have simplified their software significantly and downloading and installing is now super easy. Once you have logged into your account, click on “Setup” and then click on the version of Windows you are using. Then, simply click on the download link. The picture below shows the process (click on it to enlarge it).

Once you click on this link, the download will begin. Once the download is complete, choose “Open” or “Run” in your browsers download manager. A User Account Control window will appear asking you to confirm that you want to start the installtion. Click on “Yes”. The following window will then appear.

Scroll down to read the license agreement and if you agree to the terms, select “I Agree” at the bottom of the window, then click on “Install”. There will be a short pause while files are copied and configured. During the process, you will see a Windows Security window like the one shown below.

The TAP adapter is a vital part of the VPN. You must click on “Install” to install the TAP-Windows provider, otherwise iVPN will not be able to connect, so click on “Install”. After the installer has finished copying and configuring the files, the following window will appear.

Click on Close. Installation is now complete. You can start the iVPN software from the Start menu or Start screen by searching for “ivpn client”. Proceed directly to the next tutorial where we will demonstrate how to use the VPN.
