Additional notes

It’s very important to test your rescue media once you have created it. In the event of a disaster, if you can’t boot from your rescue media, it won’t be of any help and will just cause you further frustration! Make sure to check that you can start the rescue media AND access your backups. This is especially important if you stored your backups on a network drive as you may find that on some PCs the network connection will not be available in the rescue environment.

Your PC may need reconfiguring to boot from CD, DVD or USB device. Unfortunately, the means to do this varies between computers quite significantly. We have an example of how to reconfigure an older PCs BIOS here.
