Additional notes
Password Security – Pidgin does not offer any kind of password security. If you choose to save your passwords in Pidgin, anyone with access to your computer will be able to find them. All account details are saved in the .purple folder that the software creates on your PC. We recommend you do not save your passwords. If you have trouble remembering them, a password manager like Roboform can help.
Creating Your Own Accounts – here are the links to several popular IM services, should you need to sign up for a new account.
AOL Instant Messenger – visit this link. Once there, click the link labelled “Get a Screen Name!”, then follow all on-screen instructions.
Windows Live Messenger – sign up at Hotmail.com for a Hotmail e-mail address, use the same login credentials for your MSN/Windows live messenger account.
Yahoo Messenger – sign up at mail.Yahoo.com for a Yahoo e-mail address. Use the same login credentials for your Yahoo Messenger account. Remember, to log into Yahoo, you enter just your username (e.g “topwindowstutorials”) NOT your full e-mail address (e.g “topwindowstutorials@yahoo.com”).
