Update DirectX on your Windows PC
Although most Windows components update themselves automatically, for some reason to update DirectX you must download and run an updating utility by hand. DirectX is an important part of Windows if you use multimedia or game software. Updating DirectX can improve gaming performance and stability, though most users don’t even realise that it can be updated. This update may be applicable no matter what version of Windows you are running, or what version of DirectX your PC supports. If you are already up to date then the installer will detect this and take no action, so it can’t hurt to give it a try.
The easiest way to update DirectX to the latest version is to use Microsofts own “DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer”. This is updated frequently, so to find the latest version, open your favourite search engine and search for “DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer”.
Click on the first result that is from www.microsoft.com. This utility is updated regularly so we can’t post you a direct link. You may need to validate your copy of Windows through the Windows Genuine Advantage program before you can download the updater utility. The file you should download will be called “dxwebsetup.exe”. Once you have downloaded it, click open, or double click on the file to start the installation process. You should see the window shown below:-
Make sure you choose “I accept the agreement”, then click “Next >” to move to the window shown below:-
There will be a short pause while various files are updated. When this is done, you should see the following window:-
