We are happy to announce the first patch for our hugely successful Windows 7 Superguide. This patch will work with all versions of the product (including custom corporate/educational versions). The patch addresses the following issues:-
1) Administrator rights are no longer needed in order to run the Superguide. The Windows 7 Superguide can now be run from a standard user account without the need to use UAC to elevate the user to administrator, or from a standard account on an XP machine.
2) The link that was intended to link to chapter 10 from chapter 9 actually linked to lesson 10, this is now fixed.
3) The installation tutorials and related screenshots for Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash have been updated for the new versions of the programs.
To use the patch, first download the file by clicking the link here, then simply follow the instructions for your particular version of the guide:-
Download customers:- Please ensure you have a backup copy of your original installer file. Although we have tested the patching process on several machines, it is still highly recommended that you have a backup just in case. Download the patch file below and then follow the instructions under “All customers”.
DVD customers:- Since the content of the DVD’s cannot be rewritten, you must copy the entire contents of your Windows 7 Superguide DVD to a suitable location on your computer. The files can then be patched on your hard drive. You may then run the guide directly from your hard drive or record the contents to a DVD recordable disc using any suitable DVD recording software.
All customers:- Once the patch has downloaded and you have completed the relevant steps for your version, double click on the file or choose open from your browsers download manager to begin the installation process. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will need to grant permission for the patching process to begin, if User Account Control is enabled. Wait a moment while the installer is verified, the following window will then appear:-

Scroll down to review the license agreement and if you agree, click on “I Agree”. The following window will then appear:-

Choose the directory where your Windows 7 Superguide is installed, or the directory where you copied the contents of your Superguide DVD to. Click the browse button to choose the correct directory if necessary, then click “Install”. The following window will then appear:-

Wait while files are copied and configured, when the process is complete, the following window will appear:-

Remember to keep a backup copy of this installer file in case you need to patch your copy of the Superguide in future. Click on “OK”. The new version of the Windows 7 Superguide is now ready for use.
